Normal Oil Consumption

First and foremost, it is important to know that every combustion engine, even if everything is in order, has some normal oil consumption. Engine oil consumption is specified by the engine manufacturer and for conventional cars, it ranges from 0.1 liters to 0.3 liters per thousand kilometers.

In TSI and TFSI gasoline engines from Volkswagen, Audi, Seat, and Skoda, this "normal" oil consumption can be as high as 0.5 liters per thousand kilometers. Additionally, after traveling about one hundred thousand kilometers, these engines can burn even more than one liter of oil per thousand kilometers.

Cause of Oil Burning

The cause of this problem is the improper design of the pistons that were installed in these engines. Their rings do not adequately scrape the oil from the cylinder walls. The unscraped oil is then burned.

How do we eliminate the problem?

To effectively solve this problem, simply replacing the defective pistons is not enough. A complete engine overhaul must be performed.

Defective pistons are replaced with third-generation pistons. This ensures that the problem of excessive oil burning will not recur.

During every overhaul of the TSI unit, we regenerate the engine block.

Leaving a worn or even slightly scratched block would cause oil burning, despite the use of new pistons.

During every overhaul, it is also necessary to regenerate the engine head.

These components cannot be left as is.

During the overhaul, we replace all seals, gaskets, bearings, timing drive components, and screws which, according to the manufacturer's instructions, should be replaced.

All components that are not replaced such as camshafts, crankshafts, engine blocks, heads, and oil pans are thoroughly cleaned in ultrasonic washers and meticulously inspected before reassembly.

How We Do It?

We also repair engines in which the timing chain has snapped or jumped, as well as those that have seized.

In such cases, the cost of repair can only be determined after disassembling the engine and assessing the damage incurred.

A new TSI engine costs between 33,000 to 38,000 PLN.

Prices for EA888 engines vary depending on the model. Of course, to this price, you must add the cost of its replacement, transfer of accessories, and all related materials. Every used engine will have an oil problem.

Therefore, an overhaul is the only sensible solution.
